What are DGCA ground classes?
DGCA ground classes prepare you for the theory examinations conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation — India's aviation regulator. Every pilot, whether flying privately (PPL) or commercially (CPL), has to clear a set of written papers before their license is issued. Ground school is where you learn that theory: navigation, meteorology, regulations, aircraft systems, and radio procedure.
It is not flight training. You won't touch an aircraft in a ground class — that happens separately at a flying school, usually either before, during, or after your ground school papers, depending on how you sequence your training.
What the syllabus covers
The subjects scale up as you move from PPL to CPL to ATPL:

How long it takes
Most students complete a full batch in around 4–5 months, depending on the schedule and how many subjects they're taking on at once. Some students space subjects out further if they're studying alongside college or work.
What you need before you start
You don't need your medical or Computer Number sorted before your first ground class — most students handle these in parallel.
